REACHING THIS GENERATION
Study #2 – They Need A Father
How many of you believe it is the responsibility of the father to pass on a
heritage to his sons?
• Pass on a heritage to the sons and daughters of America.
• Are we investing our hearts and lives into this generation?
PART 1 – How are we to understand this generation?
Study #2 – They Need
Father.
1 Chronicles 22:1-10
• We need to plant trees under which we will never sit.
• Who are we going to pass the
baton of our faith on to?
• Abraham – Isaac – Example is everything.
• Do the younger men in our lives see us modeling our lives after Jesus Christ?
Question: “Why is Christian faith not self-propagating?”
• Intention of God:
Psalm 145:4
o Why have so many sons vanished into Christian mediocrity?
o Why the current trend of optional morality and descending
integrity?
o Because:
We are not planting trees under which we will never sit.
We are only planting for ourselves and our family to the exclusion of
the unsaved and
unchurched.
If the foundations fall, what are the righteous to do?
• Continue in righteousness.
John 5:17, 19-23
How the Son follows the
Father:
Verse 19
• By doing nothing of
Himself.
• By doing what He
sees the Father doing.
Verse 20
• The Father loves the Son.
• The Father shows the Son. What?
• All things that He Himself
does.
• Example
Gallup Survey
Question: “How close do the American family members feel to each other?”
90% to mothers
85% to sisters and brothers
75% to grandparents
Less than 50% to fathers
John 14:16, 26
The Holy Spirit is our resident truth
teacher.
He is our comforter and
encourager.
Proverbs 29:18
• Where there are no people, the vision perishes.
This generation needs a Father. We have been given a sacred trust from God – to share His message – to pass the baton.
